KIONA + BARNARD GRIFFIN
40 YEAR LEGACY COLLABORATION
From left to right: Tyler Williams, Scott Williams, Megan Hughes, Rob Griffin, JJ Williams
This limited wine is a collaboration between the Barnard Griffin family and the Williams family of Kiona Vineyards in honor of the inaugural Cabernet Sauvignon planting on Red Mountain in 1975, and its first harvest/vinification by Rob Griffin in 1978. The Williamses have been instrumental in creating an identity of Washington wine through generations of careful stewardship of their land on Red Mountain. Rob Griffin has long been known as the “Dean of Washington Winemakers” through his tenure and dedication to premium winemaking.
Forty years later in an effort to pay homage to history, JJ Williams (Kiona) brought the idea of a wine harvested by Kiona and vinified by Barnard Griffin to Megan Hughes (Barnard Griffin). Together with their families they have created a truly unforgettable wine from the oldest planting on Red Mountain.
The proceeds from the sale of this wine will be donated to the 2nd Harvest Food Bank, an organization that provides consistent access to fresh, healthy food to people facing hunger through 280 food pantries and meal sites in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.
